Naupaka

The Naupaka flower
Hawaiian Legend tells a story of Princess Naupaka who came down from the mountains one day to swim in the sea. It was there that had met and fallen in love with a fisherman. Heartbroken Because their love could never be, she tore the flower that she had behind her ear in two, and gave him the other half.
To this day You will find a naupaka flower growing Makai (seaside) and one growing Mauka (mountain) side
